Nurses Week is celebrated from May 6th to May 12th, but Nurse Shelley, the Hennessey Public School Nurse, was honored a bit earlier on May 2nd! She provides care for students and staff from Pre-K through 12th grade. Nurse Shelley is a certified CPR instructor through the Red Cross and a Stop the Bleed instructor.
She teaches hands-only CPR to seniors, while elementary students learn about dental care and handwashing. In middle school, the focus is on hygiene and puberty education. With 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Shelley has worked in various settings, including St. Mary’s NICU and NW Pediatrics Clinic, before serving as a school nurse for the past 7½ years at Hennessey Public Schools.
The love and dedication Shelley has for the students and staff are evident throughout the schools. Outside of work, she is a proud mother of three boys: Wyatt (10th grade), Cole (8th grade), and Brett (6th grade).
