Kingfisher County 4-H Shooting Sports Team competed in the 2023 OYE Shotgun Sports competition. The preliminaries were held on September 7th and the senior team qualified to compete in the trap and sporting clays final and the junior team qualified for the trap finals that were held on September 27th. The senior team of Reid Witt, Hagen Swanson, Kaden Kennedy and Brok Cooper place 5th overall with a 4th place finish in sporting clays and 11th place finish in trap. The junior team of Trent Choate, Kaleb Peach, Mason McGee, Tryson Sturgill and Brooklyn Martin placed 4th in the trap competition. Reid Witt, a senior, placed 8th and Brok Cooper, a freshman, placed 3rd in the finals of the individual sporting clays competition. The following placed individually in trap at the preliminary competition. Kaden Kennedy, a sophomore, placed 2nd , Trent Choate, a freshman, placed 7th, Garnet Crawford, a seventh grader, placed 4th and Tyson Evans, a seventh grader, placed 8th. Mason McGee, an eighth grader, placed 8th and Tyson Evans, placed 6th each individually in sporting clays. Also participating in the preliminary competition and placing 16thwas a junior team of Addison Huntsberger, Beau Whittenburg, Jameson Ladwig, Garnet Crawford and Tyson Evans. The junior sporting clays team members were Trent Choate, Mason McGee, Beau Whittenburg, and Tyson Evans with a preliminary placing of 16th. Team members Reid and Tyson attend school at Kingfisher, Hagen attends at Lomega and Brooklyn at Dover. The other team members attend Hennessey schools. The team is coached by Derek Peach, Mike McGee and Tanner Choate.
