Bert Gritz Honored

At the August 10th Hennessey Board of Trustees meeting, retired Fire Chief Bert Gritz was honored with a plaque in recognition of his 45 years of service as an HFD firefighter serving as a firefighter since 1978 and Chief since 1986. Gritz, who is also a board member and former mayor, was taken aback when he entered the boardroom to find it filled with firefighters and their families who had gathered to celebrate his retirement. James Matousek who presented the plaque reminisced about the early days when he and Gritz worked on fire trucks in an old garage before the Main Street fire station was built.

Firefighter spouses Kathie Matousek and Tabatha Scott served refreshments to attendees in the Town Hall lobby.
