All About Hennessey and The Hennessey Flower Shop have partnered to recognize someone outstanding in our community. September’s flower recipient is Chasity Fipps, nominated by Shelly Burch.
Shelly said:
If you ever find yourself in Hennessey and need help, there is a very good chance you will somehow end up with Chasity Fipps. She is the kind of person a complete stranger can walk up to and say, “Hey, can you help me with something?” And before they even finish the sentence, Chasity has already said, “Sure!”
Chasity is the kind of woman who will feed the kids in the community, the adults, and even probably feed a few people who weren’t even supposed to be there, and then wonder why there aren’t any leftovers.
She is always somewhere helping with a community club or event. Whether it is the Hennessey Lions Club, Hennessey Mothers Club, Hennessey Round-Up Club, or just something somebody dreamed up five minutes ago, you can almost guarantee Chasity is somewhere in the middle of it.
She feeds the community.
She hides the Easter eggs.
She shows up when people need her.
And if you need moral support, she is your girl.
Now, Chasity is also the kind of person who has made one very serious mistake in life:
She became my friend.
Because when I call her and say, “I have an idea…”, she does not hang up.
She listens. She asks questions. She rolls her eyes at me quite often but…
She starts helping before I even finish explaining.
And somewhere around the middle of the conversation, I imagine her thinking, “Why didn’t I just let this call go to voicemail?”
But does she abandon me? Nope. She’s already in.
Chasity is a team player, a mom, a mamaw, a supporter, a helper, a community cheerleader, and the kind of friend who will show up even when she probably has 47 other things she should be doing.
She is the kind of person who makes a community better simply by being part of it.
And most importantly, she is someone I am incredibly proud to call my sister from another mother… and another mister, a community leader & my friend.
