Services for Leonel Ernesto Orozco Gonzalez, 84, will be on Tuesday, July 7th, at 2:00 pm at the Hennessey High School Auditorium. Graveside services will follow immediately. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home and closed casket visitation will be on Monday, July 6th, during regular visiting hours 9:00 am – 6:00 pm.
Leonel Ernesto Orozco Gonzalez, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 2nd, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 1, 1941, and was raised in Agua de Los Leones, Chihuahua, where he developed a lifelong love for ranch life and the land that shaped him.
Leonel found his greatest joy working on the ranch. Whether he was wrangling cattle, farming the fields, or breaking and training horses, he approached every task with skill, determination, and pride. He served in the Mexican military in his youth and eventually came to the States where he landed in Hennessey, Oklahoma. Leonel made a life here alongside his children and finished his working days at Turkey Creek Golf Course. He was known for his confidence, outgoing personality, and ability to connect with everyone he met. A respected and well-known member of his hometown community, Leonel left a lasting impression through his generosity, hard work, and unwavering spirit. His love for people and strong sense of community became qualities that were proudly carried on by his children.
He is lovingly remembered by his ten children, Camila Orozco de Reyes, Javier Orozco, Leonor Orozco de Ortega (Pio), Aide Orozco de Gutierrez, Sergio Orozco Marquez, Lucy Renteria, Leonel Orozco Jr., Pilar Moreno, Marisol Orozco de Valles, and Yesi Orozco Marquez; a granddaughter he raised as his own, Daniela Cassel; 31 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Guadalupe Orozco.
Leonel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Aurora Marquez de Orozco; his parents; one infant child; his granddaughter, Doris Reyes, and a grandson; and two brothers.
His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, infectious smile, love of family, and the enduring example of a life well lived. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
