Hennessey firefighters responded to an explosion at approximately 11:40 a.m., July 21, at Jim’s Welding, located at 9000 S. U.S. Highway 81, south of Hennessey.
According to Emergency Management, employee Rob Fife was welding beneath a hot oil truck when the explosion occurred. Fife’s son, Gunner, and shop owner Kim Hawk were also inside the building at the time. Other than ringing ears no one was injured.
The explosion caused damage to the building, blowing a large hole through the roof and destroying a garage door and several windows. Debris from the building was scattered several hundred feet from the shop.
