The Town of Hennessey is proud to announce that Staff Sergeant David Jones has been selected as the Grand Marshal of the 2026 Freedom Fest Parade.
A lifelong Hennessey native, David graduated from Hennessey High School in 1966 before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. As a Weapons Mechanic, he loaded bombs on A-37 aircraft at Bien Hoa Air Force Base, playing a vital role in supporting troops on the ground.
But David’s story is about far more than his own military service.
His family’s commitment to America spans generations, from relatives who served during World War II and the Vietnam War, to ancestors connected to the Battle of Bunker Hill during the American Revolution. His mother even contributed to the war effort as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. Today, that legacy continues as his grandsons dream of serving in the Army and Navy.
David humbly describes his military career as “just a small part” of his family’s long tradition of service, yet his dedication, patriotism, and love for Hennessey make him an outstanding choice to lead this year’s parade.
Please join us as we honor Staff Sergeant David Jones and all the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform.
