The Hennessey Police Department had two reasons to celebrate October 28 as Sergeant Robert Cancemi and K9 Vader received state recognition during the 2026 Oklahoma Officer of the Year awards luncheon in Oklahoma City.
Vader received the Honorable Mention K-9 Award for his work alongside Officer Julia Storey and other law enforcement agencies. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond recognized Vader’s courage, dependability and contributions to law enforcement.
Cancemi was recognized as a nominee for the 2026 Oklahoma Attorney General’s Outstanding Officer of the Year Award. He received an official commendation from Drummond honoring his performance in the line of duty, professionalism, courage and dedication to serving the people of Oklahoma.
The commendation also praised Cancemi’s commitment to protecting the public and described his service as an inspiration to fellow law enforcement officers across the state.
