Nurses Week is celebrated from May 6th to May 12th, but Nurse Shelley, the Hennessey Public School Nurse, was honored a bit earlier on May 2nd! She provides care for students and staff from Pre-K through 12th grade. Nurse Shelley is a certified CPR instructor through the Red Cross and a Stop the Bleed instructor.
She teaches hands-only CPR to seniors, while elementary students learn about dental care and handwashing. In middle school, the focus is on hygiene and puberty education. With 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Shelley has worked in various settings, including St. Maryโs NICU and NW Pediatrics Clinic, before serving as a school nurse for the past 7ยฝ years at Hennessey Public Schools.
The love and dedication Shelley has for the students and staff are evident throughout the schools. Outside of work, she is a proud mother of three boys: Wyatt (10th grade), Cole (8th grade), and Brett (6th grade).
