BERT GRITZ RESIGNS AS FIRE CHIEF

Bert Gritz, who has served as the Hennessey Fire Chief since 1986 and as a firefighter since 1978 has retired effective June 30, 2023. The new chief position will be applied for and filled by one of our current firefighters. Bert stated in his resignation letter, “I have full confidence in the capabilities of Assistant Fire Chief James Matousek along with Captains Brandon Scott, Dustin Munroe, Terry Berkenbile, Jake Streck and Logan Macy, along with the rest of our dedicated firefighters to continue to excel as one of the best volunteer fire departments in the state. Please accept my gratitude in allowing me to serve this amazing community!”
