Let’s be honest, insurance isn’t exactly light reading… but having the right person to walk you through it makes all the difference.
For the past 12.5 years, Sam Dowell has been a steady presence at Farm Bureau, helping customers navigate a world that can feel anything but simple. Her journey started just south of town at the tire shop, until a call from Jack changed her path. One application later, and the rest is history.
These days, there’s no such thing as a “typical” day but that’s just how she likes it. From writing new policies to walking customers through claims or answering questions about current coverage, Sam spends her days doing what she does best, helping people make sense of insurance in real life terms.
Insurance is confusing, she says honestly. It’s a whole other world.
And that’s exactly where she steps in, bridging the gap, translating the fine print, and making sure folks feel confident in what they have.
But ask her what she enjoys most, and her answer comes quick, the people.
The stories, she says. I learn something new from our members almost every week, whether it’s about their lives or who they’re related to.
And in a small town, that matters.
Because behind every policy is a family, a farm, or a small business and Sam plays a part in helping keep those things protected and moving forward. It may not always be seen, but her work helps keep the backbone of the community strong.
If you’re new to town and stop by the office, expect a smile and a genuine hello. Sam loves meeting new faces, especially when she gets to hear what brought them to the community in the first place.
And while she’s built a career on being dependable, a word she proudly uses to describe her role, she’s just as rooted in life outside the office.
If she’s not working, you’ll likely find her at a ballgame or out at the barn during showing season with Cam. Summer is her favorite, filled with cookouts, time outdoors, and Thursday night dinners with friends. She also loves trying new recipes and spending time with her youngest, Ryann, her little sidekick who keeps everyone laughing. And with her oldest, Harlee, recently married, she’s holding out hope for grandbabies in the near future.
Oh and one unexpected skill she’s picked up along the way
How to spell bureau, she laughs. That’s a hard word!
At the end of the day, Sam is more than just the voice on the phone or the face behind the desk. She’s someone her customers trust, someone who answers the call even after hours because she truly cares.
And in a world full of fine print and policies, that kind of dependability goes a long way.
