Seven-year-old Baylee Smith has been making a big impact in Hennessey over the past several days.
Baylee, a vibrant and fun-loving young girl known for her bright smile and positive spirit, has been spreading awareness about autism throughout the community. Diagnosed with autism at a young age, she continues to show that it does not hold her back.
Last week, Baylee and her grandmother, Angie Holmes, visited several locations around Hennessey, handing out ribbons, pins, and bracelets to help educate others and spark conversations. Their stops included the Hennessey Police Department, the Hennessey Public Library, Town Hall, All About Hennessey, and other local businesses and organizations.
Baylee has two siblings who are not on the autism spectrum. Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that is still not fully understood.
Baylee’s efforts come during Autism Awareness, or Autism Acceptance Month, observed each April. The month is dedicated to promoting understanding, inclusion, and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum.
Baylee will also celebrate her 8th birthday on April 30. If you see her around town, be sure to wish her a happy birthday.
Way to go, Baylee! You’re making Hennessey prouder every day.
