Celebrating Every Victory
Ask Karen what success looks like, and she probably won’t mention a job title.
That’s because success looks different for everyone who comes through Work Ready Oklahoma.
For one person, it may be landing a new career. For another, it could be creating a resume, gaining confidence, or simply making it through an interview they were nervous to attend.
Karen believes all of those wins are worth celebrating.
One success story that has stuck with her is Robby Damron’s.
Robby completed the Work Ready workshop in August 2025, and afterward, the team helped him enroll in CDL training. Through one of Work Ready’s community partners, they learned about an opening for a CDL driver. Robby was hired as a temporary employee and, after 90 days, was offered a full-time position. He’s still there today.
Then Robby sent someone else Work Ready’s way, his wife, Autumn.
She completed the workshop in May and has since found a full-time remote position.
Seeing both Robby and Autumn find success through the program is something Karen hasn’t forgotten.
For anyone who’s considered Work Ready but may be a little nervous about taking that first step, Karen has some pretty simple advice:
“Do it afraid.”
It’s one of the mottos they teach at Work Ready. You don’t have to walk through the door with everything figured out. You just have to be willing to walk through it.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys baking and was born in Mexico. And according to her coworkers, she’s also been voted “Most Likely to Be Late.”
We’ll give her a pass… as long as she brings whatever she’s been baking.
