The parts of our brains that strive to overachieve very nearly had us admitting defeat and just not turning in an article this week, buuut the parts of our brains that hate the thought of disappointing anyone or causing more work for people wouldn’t let us.
We may not have a typical article or a recipe for you, but hopefully what we do have will be even better for us all. A little therapeutic for us and maybe even some kind of comfort for you.
Sometimes we worry that our articles are giving too much “advice column” and you might get the impression that we think we’ve got it all figured out. We assure you we most certainly do NOT.
What we do have is faith and trust in the Lord to use all things, including us and our willingness to share any and all the wisdom we’ve collected or been granted, for good. That faith allows us the freedom to tell you that our focus is being pulled in too many directions right now to be clever or interesting.
Our meals have all been made on autopilot (and are things we’re pretty sure we’ve already shared), and our days are being spent doing what has to be done to keep our families and homes from going into a full spiral while trying to drink all the water and get enough rest.
It seems like all of a sudden this month that’s still technically “summer break” doesn’t feel like a break at all. It feels more like we’re just cycling through survival, recovery, repeat.
Eventually, we’ll get our bearings again and even thrive! But right now, y’all, we’re in the thick of it. Too much to even articulate.
If you are too, we hope it brings you some reassurance to know you’re not alone and that you’ll be encouraged to keep on doing whatever you can and trusting God with the rest.
Speaking of trust, here’s hoping that we actually do practice what we preach and build some between us here. Many of our articles have stressed the importance of giving yourself grace and acknowledging your limitations without seeing them as failures. So, here we are putting that into action.
We’re tired, stressed, yet still so blessed (and still cheesey lol).
Thanks for allowing us to create this space where we don’t have to fake it. Thanks for caring (we’re telling ourselves you do!). Thanks for being patient with us.
