HENNESSEY — More than 70 people attended the annual Red Carpet Night, sponsored by Hennessey United, Thursday evening at the Hennessey Mercantile.
The event recognized individuals and organizations across the community for their service, leadership, and dedication. Honorees were announced by award category rather than by their placement in the group photo.
This year’s award recipients included:
Golden Eagles Member of the Year, Doris Schultz; Powder & String Club Member of the Year, retired Judge Bob Lovell; Child Study Club Member of the Year, Teresa Fletcher; and Farmerettes Member of the Year, Jamie Akenhead.
The Hennessey Police Department honored Capt. Bryan Burch as Officer of the Year and Bryann Walls as Dispatcher of the Year.
The Hennessey Fire Department recognized its Firefighters of the Year: Sergio Gonzales, C.W. Daniel, Tyson Copeland, and Cris Primal.
Additional honors included Lions Club Member of the Year, Bryan Burch, and Community Action Team Volunteer of the Year, Tyler Streck and Jimmy’s Welding. The Hennessey Ministerial Alliance recognized Shannon Miller, Senior Citizen Center director and cook, along with board members Teresa Dillon (president), Pam Joseph, Thresa Helm, Shirley Koons, and Barb Walter.
Hennessey Public Schools Teachers of the Year were Marie Parrish (high school), Craig Ullery (middle school), Gerri Russell (elementary), and Haley Martin (early childhood center).
Hennessey United named Renee Curry as Member of the Year. Curry, who serves as vice president and beautification chairman, was recognized for her work planting flowers and helping maintain pots placed outside downtown businesses.
A cookies and punch reception followed the awards program, provided by The Quilting Baker, Sparky’s and allowing attendees time to visit and celebrate the honorees.
