Beginning July 1, 2019 Hennessey water, sewer & garbage bills will be increasing by 3%. At the last Hennessey Utilities Authority meeting the board approved raising rates. Trustee Wes Hardin said, “It is important to raise rates to keep up with expenses in small increments.” This is making note of several years ago when the Authority raised rates significantly after not doing so for many years.

The relentless heavy rain has wreaked havoc on Hennessey, flooding many areas that haven’t flooded in years. The last Hennessey Trustees meeting included a very heated debate between Hennessey resident, Glenn Roder and Public Works Director Curtis Turner. The meeting concluded with the Town agreeing to hire an engineer to look at the troubled areas around town, and to develop a solution. In the meantime, town crews have been working with Complete Culvert out of Fairview to clean out troubled culverts (tin horns) around town.
