The Hennessey Board of Education approved several items during its regular meeting Monday, July 13, including an increase in athletic event ticket prices, an energy savings agreement, and staffing recommendations for the 2026-27 school year.
Board members approved increasing admission to high school athletic events from $7 for adults and $4 for students to $8 for adults and $5 for students. Josh Faulkner, high school principal told the board the increase is needed to help offset rising costs, particularly higher fees for game officials, while making the athletic department more self-sustaining. The district also hopes the additional revenue will reduce the need for fundraising and help cover equipment and program expenses.
The board also approved an agreement with Ideal Impact to implement energy efficiency improvements throughout the district. The project will be paid for through future utility savings for gas and electric, with company representatives guaranteeing the district will not pay more than the savings generated by the upgrades. Installation is expected to begin this fall.
In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignations of paraprofessional Allison Hassel and substitute teacher Heather Russell.
Members approved faculty assignments, seven adjunct teacher appointments for Tanner Black, Kim Gritz, Jennifer Richardson, Jeneva Nelson, Dallas Hunt, Steven Brisco, and Amy Shelite.
and a one-time $750 stipend for Carol Keeton to coordinate the district’s student internship program during the upcoming school year. Action on hiring a long-term substitute for an elementary special education classroom was tabled until the August meeting pending certification updates.
