June 16 Election Guide
What Oklahoma and Hennessey voters need to know before heading to the polls.
Polling Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Oklahoma voters will head to the polls Tuesday, June 16, for a statewide election featuring primary races, State Question 832, and a variety of local measures depending on where voters live.
Primary Elections
Election officials remind voters that Oklahoma’s primary elections are closed primaries. Voters may only participate in the primary election of the political party with which they are registered.
State law also prevents voters from changing their party affiliation between April 1 and August 31 during even-numbered years. Any party changes submitted during that period will not take effect until after August 31.
State Question 832
While primary races are limited by party registration, all registered Oklahoma voters will be eligible to vote on State Question 832.
If approved, State Question 832 would gradually increase Oklahoma’s minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2029. The proposal calls for phased increases over several years and would include future adjustments tied to inflation.
Local Ballot Items
Many voters may also see local propositions, school elections, or nonpartisan races on their ballots, depending on their location.
For residents within the Hennessey School District, the ballot will include the proposed Ambulance 522 District.
Ambulance 522 District
The measure would establish a dedicated funding source for emergency medical services through a property tax assessment.
Supporters say the district would help provide stable, long-term funding for ambulance service throughout the Hennessey area.
