What began as a risky idea and two worn-out tow trucks has grown into one of central Oklahoma’s most dependable recovery services. Tyrel McLane, owner of M6 Wrecker & Recovery, turned determination and hard work into a thriving operation serving Kingfisher, Blaine County, and beyond.
Originally from Binger, McLane moved to Kingfisher as a child when his mother, a nurse, relocated for work. He spent much of his career in the tire and oil industries, including years at K&S Tire and later TerraStar, before taking a leap of faith into the towing world.
“When the local wrecker owners retired, a trooper friend told me I’d be perfect for it,” McLane recalled. “I went to my banker, told him I needed $120,000, and that’s how it started.”
McLane’s first trucks were far from glamorous; one came from Iowa, the other from Texas, but they got the job done. Four years later, M6 now runs seven trucks, including two semis, and covers everything from car crashes to heavy-duty recovery work. “Rainy season keeps us hopping,” he said. “We pulled 43 semis in one week this year.”
Beyond his business success, McLane is known for community involvement. He regularly assists law enforcement with search and rescue efforts and is investing in a thermal drone to aid recovery operations. “If someone needs help, we try to be there,” he said.
While McLane dreams of one day owning a million-dollar rotator wrecker like those featured on Pepe’s Towing, he remains focused on building a sustainable business grounded in reliability and service. “I’ll own one someday,” he smiled. “But for now, we’re just grateful to do what we love and help people when they need it most.”
