The Hennessey Fire Department threw open the bay doors Saturday, April 4, and the community showed up hungry and ready to look around.
Crews fired up the cookers for the annual open house and fundraiser, serving up a great meal while giving folks a behind-the-scenes look at the station. Inside, it was part dinner, part reunion, with plenty of visiting.
Kids got the full experience, climbing on fire trucks and checking out the gear, while the highlight for many was a visit from a LifeFlight helicopter that landed just behind the station, because nothing says “open house” quite like a helicopter making an entrance.
Fire Chief Brandon Scott said the event is the department’s biggest fundraiser of the year and plays a key role in helping meet the station’s needs.
All in all, it was a full house, full plates, and a great reminder of the support behind Hennessey’s firefighters.
