Hennessey drivers took the scenic route Friday, April 3, and for once, nobody could blame GPS.
Union Pacific Railroad crews shut down the crossing just west of the Hwy 51 & 81 intersection to tackle some much-needed repairs. Crews replaced the entire track section and added a new concrete approach, smoothing out what had become a bone-rattling experience for drivers.
The crossing remained closed most of the day, with traffic detoured from Cemetery Rd to Oklahoma Street until around 6 p.m.
Sure, it was a bit of a hassle… but your suspension, your coffee, and probably your dentist all agree, it was worth it.
