You’ve probably heard or even said the phrase “new year = new me” at the start of a new year, but what if you don’t need a New Year’s resolution that’s going to flip your world upside down? What if you don’t need to completely reinvent yourself? What if just a little change can have a profound impact on not only yourself but the world around you?
Whatever you choose to do doesn’t have to be revolutionary. It can be as simple as choosing kindness in any given situation. Common courtesy is sadly becoming as rare as common sense so be the change you wish to see in the world.
We hate to disagree with Yoda, but we do indeed believe in “try.” Try something new. If you hate it, or it just doesn’t work, try something else….come to think of it, that might actually be his point! “Do or do not. There is no try.” It doesn’t mean there’s no such thing as “try,” just that you’ll either succeed or fail. As long as you accept failure as a part of growth, you can keep moving forward, trying new things, or even just variations of things, until you figure out what works best. Be willing to be uncomfortable. Think outside the box and try.

We know some of you overachievers will still make lofty goals for this year, so remember, “A goal without a plan is just a wish” (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry). Break it down into smaller steps. Write out an action plan. Acknowledge that life is crazy. Write out a backup plan. Be prepared to embrace every obstacle with a “what is this trying to teach me” attitude.
If you can’t think of any other thing to try this year, can we recommend you try making that mental change? No more “why is this happening to me?” Instead, “what is this trying to teach me?” or “what can I learn from this?”
Evolve. Enjoy the journey. Have a blessed 2026!
