Hennessey Fire Department was called to investigate smoke coming from a transformer around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1st. The transformer, located on West 7th Street near the railroad tracks, appeared to be in trouble.
When firefighters arrived, they quickly discovered the culpritโan unlucky squirrel who got a little too close for comfort. Unfortunately, things didnโt end well for the squirrel.
OG&E crews arrived within minutes and were able to reset the fuse, restoring power shortly after.
According to the OG&E website, about 535 customers in Hennessey were affected by the brief outage, including both Hennessey High School and Middle School. Photo by AAH Jack Quirk.
