*New President, *TikTok madness, *the release of Onyx Storm. (Haha)
But seriously, Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” (NIV). Even REST.
Life can be unpredictable and wild, but God is not surprised. He is steady and sure in an ever-changing world that is so unsure. Don’t forget to rest this winter. Before we know it, the days will be longer, and we will be busier. If we don’t take the time to rest, we are forever feeling behind. Is that just us? Do you feel behind sometimes?
1 Kings chapter 19 (paraphrased) – on a scale from “1 to even”, Elijah just no longer can. He literally can’t even. God’s like, “Have you tried turning it off and then turning it back on again? Also, you’re not yourself when you’re hungry…” So, Elijah eats a snack and takes a nap, then life doesn’t seem so bleak.
Maybe paraphrasing it like that is silly, but we think it is worth hounding the importance of REST. Especially in a society that glorifies being busy. The news used to be nightly. A nightly recap of what’s going on in the world. Now, we have news at our fingertips. Social media-texts- phone calls-snapchats-GroupMe-emails-Teams-X (formerly known as Twitter)…the list of ways for people to contact you seems endless! You feel like you always have to be accessible. Always have to be “on.” Well, we’re here to remind you (even give you permission if you’re the type that needs it) to rest. Power down. Log off. Put your phone on “Do not disturb.” Then, go to your happy place— even if it’s only in your mind. You know what? Especially rest your mind!! Anxiety and depression seem to be so much more rampant than in years gone by. Relax. Drink extra water. Take deep breaths. Check in with yourself. Be still and open your heart and mind to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Let God guide your steps and give you the wisdom for your next steps and how to weather this season. We know life can be a lot sometimes. Just know you’re not alone! We will be here, too, attempting to REST and reset alongside you. #okseasonedsisters
