Terrie was the only child of Earl “Shorty” and Ann Wollard. She was born in a little hospital in Wynnewood, OK, and was adopted at birth. They moved to Hennessey in 1961 when her dad was transferred for work (Eureka Tool Co.) Soon after they were in Hennessey, they moved west of town to Lacey so Terrie could have a horse. Terrie started school at Lacey in 1964, and her mom was a cook in the lunchroom. Lacey School closed in 1968, and the students were annexed into the Hennessey School District. It was quite a shock for Terrie, who went from four kids in her grade to four classrooms full of students. She played basketball, ran track, played saxophone in the band, and showed pigs in 4-H, but riding and showing horses was her favorite pastime. Terrie graduated from Hennessey High School in 1976. Terrie married Frank Pospisil and they had a daughter, Jennifer. After graduation, she worked at Easy Stop and then was a receptionist at Smitty’s Construction Co. and Choate Ford. Later, Terrie worked for Champlin Refinery as a blueprint artist. Frank and Terrie divorced in 1977 but have remained friends throughout the years. Terrie married Brent Hajek in 1980 and had a son (Jake) in 1982. They bought a place near Ames and built a successful oil company and an elite collection of race cars together. Both kids started school in Ames. Later, they bought a couple of farms and added farming and cattle to the everyday workload. Between the oilfield business, farming, and raising kids, Terrie was also a race car driver, mechanic, and restoration artist for their collection of cars. Long hours spent working on cars, traveling all over the country to races, and attending all the kids’ school events left little time for her horses. Soon both of her kids joined her riding in rodeos and playdays on horses of their own. After being divorced in 1997, Terrie moved to a farm northwest of Lacey, only miles from where she grew up riding horses with her lifelong friend Nora Sturgeon. Terrie is a cancer survivor and continues to raise, train and ride AQHA quarter horses at her farm. She began working horseback at local livestock auctions, including Enid Livestock, Fairview Sale Barn and Cherokee Sales. Terrie retired in March of 2023 leased out her farm ground but continues to work at the Geary Livestock Auction each week. She continues to raise colts and condition them for sales that Terrie and her companion Craig travel to several times a year. Her love for horses will always remain. Terrie’s daughter, Jennifer was an outstanding basketball player and received a full scholarship to OU. Jennifer and husband Brain Stork have three children and live in Aledo, TX. Terrie’s son, Jake lives four miles from her and owns an oil company, operates a hot oil unit and has a couple of farms he enjoys farming. When Jake’s not working he loves spending time with his sweet companion Anna Guffey. Terrie loves being Grandma T to her grandkids and having them all out to the farm. They ride horses, shoot clay pigeons, ride 4-wheelers and drive around in the old feed pickup. Terrie feels extremely thankful that her parents were at the right place at the right time and gave her a happy and wonderful childhood. Which included great memories and lifelong friends along the way. Everything happens for a reason and everyday is a gift!
