Kim Gritz, a science teacher at Hennessey High School and OERB Master Teacher, was awarded a $5000 grant from Continental Resources in OKC for her new Forensics Class through a proposal she wrote last spring.
Her vision is to develop a simulated Forensics Crime Lab where students will take part in evidence collection from Crime Scenes and subsequent analysis in a lab setting to solve the case.
In addition to this achievement, Kim was honored in April of this year as one of five Oklahoma educators to be awarded a $2,000 STEM grant from Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas.
The implementation of the Forensic Lab will be great practice and impact the junior and senior students at the school, providing them with invaluable hands-on learning opportunities in the field of forensics.
