It was another epic water battle this year with the Hennessey firefighters and the kiddos of Hennessey. The streets were packed with eager youngsters, and even some parents got into the game ready to drench their heroic firefighters. And you could tell from the huge grins on their faces that the firefighters were in on the fun, too!
This year’s water wars marked the third year of this watery tradition, which has grown in popularity and become the talk of the town not only in Hennessey but also catching the attention of fire stations from other states.
The Hennessey Lions Club also played a vital role at this event, filling up balloons and setting up stations for the excited little people to toss. At the same time, the firefighters were busy strategizing and preparing their balloons for the counterattack. It was a showdown of sheer splash-tastic fun!
Chief Scott had this to say ” We absolutely love the community participation and the smiles on everyone’s faces! We are truly sorry that we didn’t get to everyone, and we will try to do better next year. Please remember to not get in the street or approach the trucks. Thank you again for the community support, and we hope it continues to grow! Special thanks to The Hennessey Lion’s club for the balloons and setting up the stations and the All About Hennessey crew for the awesome coverage!!!
