Hennessey FFA recently received grants of $2,500 from Seaboard Farms, and a matching grant from CoBank resulting in a total of $5,000. Hennessey FFA has had a membership increase of 80 percent within three years to an all-time high of 72 members. With the influx of new, and returning members, the demand for welding/fabrication experience has increased substantially. But, so has the cost to offer students this experience of zero cost to them. Through student experience in our shop/classroom laboratory, students’ skills are demonstrated by their finished shop projects for their personal Supervised Agricultural Experience projects, community members, and the Hennessey School system. These experiences come with high costs, and equipment wear and tear that leads to tool replacement often. Grant funds will be used to buy much-needed tools, and equipment to continue student hands-on learning through welding/fabrication. On behalf of the entire Hennessey FFA, we appreciate the never-ending support from Seaboard and CoBank!
