The 0-2 Eagles looked to jump into the win column last night against the Hinton Comets. The first drive halted to a stop early but flashed promise. Proceeding the punt, Hinton would take back a 56-yard touchdown and jump into the lead. Back-and-forth drives stalling led to a Gunnar Holder interception and then a 2-yard rushing touchdown for the junior quarterback. As the seconds ticked down in the first, the Eagles held a 7-6 lead.

The 2nd quarter exchanged various blows but all in all, was uneventful, but Hinton did bust out another big-time carry for a TD and would head into the half with the 13-7 lead. After Hinton would once again tack on another big play touchdown, it seemed the Eagles were fading into another loss. The 4th quarter came through, and the Eagles answered quickly, with an 82-yard touchdown via the pass of Weston Smith to returning (from injury) junior Kevin Trillo for the touchdown, and then an onside recovery, it seemed the Eagle’s chances looked plentiful.

Both teams evidently stalled, and within 2 minutes to go, the Comets tacked on a touchdown to give them a 2-score lead with almost no time. Chances looked bleak than ever until senior Carson Riddle burst out an 80+ yard kick return touchdown! Unfortunately, Hinton would still come away victorious following the failed onside.
