Last Saturday, June 10th, Casa Teja Mexican Restaurant celebrated its 21st birthday celebration. Flor Velasco, owner, family, friends, and employees spent Saturday serving their customers as they listened to live music and enjoyed the colorful decorations.
Flor is highly innovative, has worked hard over the 21 years to improve her building, and regularly creates new and fun menu items. Casa Teja is known for Saturday Steak Night for her special ribeye and new Taco Bar.
Flor is constantly looking to help others and this week she is selling T-Shirts and a portion of the sales were donated to the Caulder and Best families.
In recent history, this building at 112 S. Main St., served as Wong’s Chinese Restaurant for 28 years from 1970 to 1998. It was then several other types of restaurants until 2002 when Velasco purchased it and opened as Los Perez. A few years ago she remodeled the building and changed the name to Casa Teja.
