About eight months ago, Jack Quirk, owner of All About Hennessey, proposed the “Discover Hennessey” program to the Hennessey Board of Trustees so Hennessey could benefit from visitors to our community. At last week’s Trustee’s meeting, Quirk unveiled the first of many marketing and promotional items. Quirk said, “This is the Discover Hennessey QR code program. Hennessey is a working town. We don’t really have anything to make Hennessey a destination other than Prairie Quilt.” Quirk explained we have to make the best of the visitors we do have. These include the big car show, the Wine & Chocolate Festival, and the many large tournaments and events at the schools.
This program includes several parts, with the most noticeable being the signs with the QR code featuring the categories, Eat, Shop, Stay, and Enjoy. These will be placed all over town and will allow visitors to see what we have to offer in moments by simply scanning the QR code with their phones. The QR code will take you to the Discover Hennessey webpage, where there are four categories. Eat, Shop, Stay, and Enjoy. In addition, all of the retail businesses in town will be listed on this website.
The second part is the Discover Hennessey visitor cards. These will be given to everyone who attends an event with the same QR code. These will also be available at all of the businesses in town.
Quirk said, “It will be up to us to coordinate with the event planners to let the businesses, especially the restaurants know that large crowds will be in town so they can be open.”
