Work began this week on the drainage project along Mitchell Rd. This work will elevate the flooding on 5th and 6th Streets and fill in most of the deep ditches along the west side of Mitchell Rd. The construction zone is from East 6th to East Oklahoma St. Mitchell along with 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Streets will be closed from time to time for the next few weeks as construction proceeds.
The Town of Hennessey revived Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant to help with this project. The area between East Oklahoma and East Iowa along Mitchell in front of the schools is also in the planning stages. This will eliminate the deep ditches in front of the schools and help with drainage.
