Hennessey Fire Fighters responded to a run-away grass fire about noon, September 9, 2021, about 2 ยพ east of Hennessey on Hwy 51.ย ย ย The fire started while cutting milo in a field south of Ray Shimanekโs home and quickly advanced north towards their home and barns.ย ย ย When the fire reached the back of the barn area, it caught a burn pit on fire.ย ย Heavy black smoke came from tires, wood, and hay bales.ย ย The Hennessey Fire Fighters were able to keep the fire contained and away from any structures.ย ย
