This weekend is the 2020 Oklahoma Youth deer hunt event where young hunters can shoot their first deer. The Hennessey Powder and String Club sponsored the local event to help young hunters with their trophy. The event was held at the Powder and String Clubhouse west of Hennessey and 10 year old Mason McGee was the first one in with a 127 pound spike deer. Mason said, “I got him about 30 minutes after sunup with a 243 rifle, south of Lacey”. Jack Choate lll and helpers prepared Antelope stew and chili for anyone stopping by. Choate said, “The high wind today probably kept the deer from moving, hopefully we will see some more kids this evening.”
