CLIPPER NOT CLOSING

On August 14th, we wrote The Hennessey Clipper was closing based on an email sent to the Hennessey Town Hall.  The email stated that it was transitioning the paper to a bi-monthly publication that will focus on government, public policy, judicial issues, and economic issues that affect western Oklahoma and will cover a multi-county region in western Oklahoma, versus just Hennessey.  Because it will no longer be a weekly publication, they will no longer be able to publish legals or obituaries under Oklahoma statute.

On Friday, September 4th we received a call from Paul Laubach, owner of The Clipper’s parent company Trail Miller, stating that the Hennessey Clipper was not closing.  During the conversation, Laubach stated that he was keeping the name of the paper, it just would not be focusing on covering news and events only in Hennessey as before.  The paper would keep the name Hennessey Clipper but will focus on politics in northwest Oklahoma and publish less frequently.  Laubach also stated that the Trail Miller Company is based in Okeene not Seiling.   Laubach said, “We will be issuing prorated refunds to any of our Clipper subscribers that wish one.”
