HENNESSEY’S INTERIM POLICE CHIEF

At today’s special Board of Trustees meeting (Thursday, September 3, 2020) Ed Cangiano was named as the interim police chief filling the position left vacant when Hank Weber resigned.  Cangiano is a retired Master Sergeant from the Air Force, retired Lieutenant from the Bethany, Oklahoma Police Department and was the Sr. master instructor for Taser International based in Phoenix Arizona.  Cangiano has been the assistant chief with the Hennessey Police Department since January 2018.

Cangiano was also recently assigned the position of Director of Emergency Management for Hennessey.  This job includes preparing plans and procedures for responding to natural disasters and other emergencies.  He also helps to lead the response during and after the emergencies; in coordination with public safety officials, elected officials, non-profit organizations, and other government agencies.  The new chief position will take place on September 11.

Weber has been the Hennessey Police Chief for 11 years, and stated in his letter of resignation the main reason for departing is for better pay and retirement benefits.
