Larry Schafer Obituary

HENNESSEY

“There aren’t any fish in Canton Lake,” said Larry Schafer.
Where are you headed? “To go fishing at Canton Lake,”
said Larry Schafer.

Larry was born in a small farmhouse in rural Longdale, Oklahoma on June 23rd of the year 1943. His parents were Myron and Pearl Martin Schafer. He went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 16, 2020 at his home in Lacy, Oklahoma with his wife Rhonda by his side.

Larry’s family moved to Garden Grove, California when he was five years old. The Schafers lived there until their return to Oklahoma in 1978.

Larry had too many hobbies to list, but his favorite moments included his  closest friends and family. He often recalled trips to Sturgis with his son Jason, and camping with Jerry and Rita. Larry loved adventure and it would be easier to list the things he  hasn’t done than the things he has. While he would be ashamed to admit it, his ability to do just about anything was larger than life.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jason Schafer, and grandson Matthew Severson.

He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda Schafer of the home; two daughters Dena Severson and husband Michael, Teresa Wichert and husband John, all of Isabella, one son Buck Garvin of Foster, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Cody Severson, Katy Rich, Jacob Severson, Jessica Wichert, Ethan Wichert, Seth Wichert, Ashlyn Wichert, Chacy Schafer. Genesis Garvin, and Noah Garvin; nine great-grandchildren, Jazzlyn Severson, Austin Severson, Stryker Severson, Willow Severson, Gwynna Severson, Benjamin Severson, Elisha Rich, Wyatt Doyel, Emmett Doyel, and many cousins, family, and friends.

Per Larry’s request there will be no services.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
