SLOW START FOR POT
The new Hennessey medical marijuana ordinance is already facing issues that make it difficult to operate an indoor grow facility. Last month the Hennessey Town Trustees approved the new Medical Marijuana Ordinance #378 to allow indoor grow facilitates to only be located in areas zoned agricultural inside city limits. At this week’s town meeting, Kelly Bullis questioned this requirement. The current ordinance says that a processing, wholesale, or storage facility can be operated in an industrial zoned area, but an indoor grow facility cannot. After a lengthy debate the town Trustees voted to amend the ordinance to allow grow facilities in Industrial and agricultural zoned areas inside Hennessey City limits. The trustees also added that these facilities cannot be located within 300 feet of a residential property. (Photo) Mayor Bert Gritz and Kelly Bullis look over the Hennessey zoning map.
