MEET THE NEW FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH PASTOR!

From Rev. Ish

Hello! I want to start off by telling you all how excited Susan, Buddy, and I are to be in Hennessey worshiping with everyone.

My name is Charles Beyer Engle, III, but everyone calls me Ish. I was born in a suburb of Orlando, FL, called Longwood. My father was an Army Officer and my mother an RN. We traveled around the US a LOT! I’ve lived in Florida, Massachusetts, Alabama, Georgia, Arizona, Virginia, California, and New York: I blame this for my funny accent.

After graduation from High School, I attended West Point, graduating with the Class of 1993. I was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer and sent to Fort Sill, OK. In Lawton, I met and married Susan, my wife. I got out of the Army in 1996 and began work as a Simulation Technician at Fort Sill. From there, God called me into ministry full time.

I’ve been in ministry since 2003. I pastored First Christian Church of Frederick for 5 years, and I’ve worked as a Chaplain for the last 5 years at Valley Hope, Cushing, helping addicts and alcoholics find faith and build their recovery on that faith. In between I was the Youth Pastor for FCC, Cushing, and, for three years, I taught Computer Science at Cushing High School. I love football (American and European), magic (I’m a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians), and music.

Susan and I have been married for 23+ years. She is an RN, although she is choosing to be a Homemaker and to work in Women’s Ministry here. She has experience in a wide variety of Nursing fields. She has served as a Manager for two different Home Health services, a House Supervisor for Hillcrest, Cushing, and as the Director of Nursing for Valley Hope of Cushing. She has also led several Women’s programs in Lawton, Frederick, and Cushing. Her hobbies include herb-gardening, soap-making, and music.

We have two daughters: Misty and Lysa. Misty is married to Joe Guillen and they live in Los Angeles, California, with their three children Michaela, Jacob, and Camille. They are avid baseball fans, especially the LA Dodgers. Lysa recently graduated from Oklahoma City University and works at Cimmaron Steak House in Oklahoma City.

Lastly, we have a Schnauzer named Buddy. He is 2-1/2 years old and very playful. He loves running, playing tug-of-war, and eating bugs.

We look forward to a long, prosperous ministry with you, our new Church family. We have been over-whelmed by the love and support shown to us. We can’t wait to start some Bible studies and get involved in glorifying God’s name in Hennessey!
