THREE MAJOR WIND FARMS COMING TO NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA AND THE HENNESSEY AREA.

According to a press release from American Electric Power (AEP), based in Columbus Ohio, three wind projects have been added to Oklahoma’s renewable energy portfolio, slated for construction starting in 2020. AEP purchased the projects from Invenergy, based in Chicago, Illinois. The projects include the Maverick Wind Project, located in Major, Garfield and Kingfisher counties, the Sundance Wind Project, located in Major, Woods and Alfalfa counties, as well as the Traverse Wind Energy Project in Blaine and Custer counties.

All three projects were purchased by AEP and will be developed and operated by Invenergy. The Maverick Wind Project will be built northwest of Hennessey.

All of the projects are projected to be completed by the end of 2021. Collectively, the three wind projects would provide more than 5.7 million megawatt-hours of new wind energy annually to serve customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
