A major fiber optic installation project through Hennessey began in mid-August when a crew started installing a fiber line between Stillwater and Amarillo, Texas.
In August, the contractor bored through one of Hennessey’s main water lines near Highways 51 and 81.
As work moved through downtown, another problem appeared. Several sections of sidewalk began to shift and buckle.
The Hennessey Board of Trustees held a special meeting Monday, September 29, with contractor representatives and the town attorney then toured the Main Street area.
Trustees acknowledged that some repairs had been made but questioned whether they would provide a permanent solution if the soil beneath the sidewalks had been disturbed by boring.
Trustees agreed to ask local concrete contractor Buddy Daniel to inspect the sidewalks and provide his opinion. The issue will be placed on the agenda for the next Board of Trustees meeting for further discussion. By AAN Jack Quirk
