If you have not made it out to watch the Hennessey Lady Eagles play softball this fall, you might want to change that.
The Lady Eagles are putting together an impressive 2026 season, and their recent championship run at the Sayre Lady Eagle Classic is just the latest reason for Hennessey fans to take notice.
Through 26 games, Hennessey has compiled a 17-6 record while combining strong pitching with an offense capable of producing runs throughout the lineup. The Lady Eagles have scored 165 runs this season while batting .317 as a team.
And now, they have some new hardware to show for it.
Hennessey battled through three days of softball Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Sayre Lady Eagle Classic before emerging as tournament champions.
The Lady Eagles capped off the tournament with a 5-0 victory over Sayre in the championship game, and sophomore Kenna Peach delivered one of the standout performances of the season.
Peach threw six no-hit innings, striking out 11 and walking only two as Hennessey shut out the host Lady Eagles.
It was another big outing in what has already been an outstanding season in the circle for Peach. Through the team’s first 26 games, she has pitched 94⅓ innings, recorded 120 strikeouts and posted a 1.19 ERA. Peach has also contributed offensively, batting .357 with 25 hits and 24 runs scored.
But this season has been far from a one-player show.
Avery Weimer has been tremendous at the plate. Through 23 games, Weimer is batting a team-leading .539 with 41 hits, including five doubles, four triples and a home run. She has driven in 16 runs and scored 25.
Ivana Gutierrez is batting .388 with 19 hits and 13 RBIs, while Brylee Seiger is hitting .364 with 24 hits, six doubles and 13 RBIs.
Kinley Hladik has also been a major part of the Lady Eagles’ offense. She is batting .354 with 23 hits and leads the team with 27 runs scored and 19 RBIs.
Reese Meek has provided extra-base power with seven doubles, two triples and a home run while batting .316. She has driven in 12 runs and scored 19.
That production up and down the lineup has helped make Hennessey a difficult team to put away. The Lady Eagles have collected 186 hits, including 31 doubles and six triples, and have driven in 115 runs as a team. They have also shown patience at the plate, drawing 76 walks.
In the circle, Hennessey’s pitching staff has combined for a 1.66 ERA through 143⅓ innings, allowing only 34 earned runs. Peach and Meek have handled the bulk of those innings, giving Hennessey two options in the circle as the season moves toward its most important stretch. And there is still softball left to play.
The tournament championship in Sayre adds another memorable chapter to a season that has given Hennessey fans plenty to cheer about, but the Lady Eagles are not finished.
For anyone who has been meaning to catch a game but has not made it yet, this would be a good time.
Statistics only tell part of the story. There is something different about watching a team put it all together in person, from a big strikeout in the circle to a hard-hit ball finding the gap and teammates waiting at home plate after a run.
The Lady Eagles have given Hennessey plenty of those moments already this fall.
They are winning games, putting runs on the board, getting strong pitching and bringing home championships.
Now they just need some hometown fans in the stands to enjoy the ride with them.
