Three Kingfisher County fire departments were called out Thursday evening, August 27, to battle another large grass fire.
At about 6 p.m., firefighters from Hennessey, Dover, and Loyal were dispatched to an area near the intersection of E 700 Road and N 2830 Road, southwest of Hennessey.
The smoky grass fire burned close to a tree line, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it could get out of hand.
N 2830 Road was temporarily closed while crews used the blacktop as a staging area for water tankers supplying the brush trucks. At one point, the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office was called to assist with traffic control.
Kingfisher County Emergency Management was also on scene, assisting with coordination efforts.
The fire comes as area departments continue to stay busy responding to grass fires fueled by hot, dry conditions.
