The Hennessey Rodeo Grounds came to life Friday and Saturday, July 24-25, with a different kind of horsepower as the 2026 Hennessey Round-Up Kart Races brought two days of high-speed action to town.
Earlier in the week, the DCS Motorsports crew transformed the rodeo grounds into a high-banked oval dirt track. Friday morning’s rain raised concerns about the event, but track crews quickly went to work pumping standing water and preparing the racing surface. By Friday evening’s practice session, the track was in excellent condition.
More than 100 racing karts filled the pit area while spectators packed the grandstands to cheer on drivers ranging in age from just 4 years old to adults. Family members and race teams worked side by side throughout the weekend, making adjustments and preparing their karts for competition.
These aren’t your dad’s go-karts. They are professionally built racing machines competing in multiple classes, with many teams arriving in large race haulers complete with spare parts, tools, and support crews. The atmosphere was much like a miniature NASCAR event, featuring close racing, skilled drivers, and plenty of excitement.
Saturday’s activities began with a breakfast, followed by a driver meet-and-greet at the Hennessey Aquatic Center before the evening’s main event.
Following the races, winners received unique handmade trophies featuring a wooden plaque topped with horns, designed to reflect the Hennessey Round-Up theme.
The event was produced by DCS Motorsports and organized by Harold Shaw of Hennessey. It is not affiliated with the Hennessey Round-Up Club, which produces the annual Hennessey Rodeo.
