Each week, the Hennessey POST will feature a member of the Hennessey Fire Department, sharing their stories, what inspired them to join the fire service, and some of the accomplishments and experiences they’ve had along the way.
Battalion Chief Terry Berkenbile
For nearly three decades, Terry Berkenbile has answered the call whenever the citizens of Hennessey needed help.
A 1979 graduate of Hennessey High School, Berkenbile joined the Hennessey Fire Department on April 9, 1998, with a simple goal: to help the people of his community. Today, he serves as Battalion Chief and remains one of the department’s longest serving members.
Outside of the fire service, Berkenbile owns and operates Terry’s Pump and Supply. He has completed Firefighter I training and is a Basic EMT, skills that have helped him serve on countless emergency calls over the years.
When asked what he enjoys most about the fire service, Berkenbile points to helping the community and working alongside his fellow firefighters.
“Helping the community and assisting my brothers on fire calls,” he said.
“I’ve been on thousands of fire calls on this awesome fire department,” he said. “It’s great being a part of it, and my fire department brothers, they are all great.”
His nearly 30 years of dedication have made him a familiar and trusted face in the Hennessey Fire Department and the community he serves.
