First-Ever All-Girls 6U Softball League
Little Eagles Complete Perfect Season
Hennessey’s youngest softball stars finish 18-0 and capture every championship in the league’s inaugural season.
The first-ever all-girls 6U softball league in Hennessey turned into a historic season for one hometown team.
The Hennessey Little Eagles, made up of players ranging from Pre-K through first grade, completed a perfect 18-0 season while capturing the preseason, regular season and postseason championships in the inaugural league hosted by the Hennessey Softball Association.
The four-team league featured two Hennessey teams, the Little Eagles and Diamond Daisies, along with the Honey Badgers from Enid and Crossfire from Pioneer. What began as an opportunity for young girls to learn the game quickly became a showcase of talent, teamwork and community pride.
Season By The Numbers
From the opening game to the championship finale, the Little Eagles excelled on both sides of the field. Offensively, the team finished with 399 total hits, including 345 singles, 18 doubles, seven triples and 29 home runs while scoring 293 runs.
Defensively, the Little Eagles were equally impressive, recording 166 putouts while allowing only 163 runs all season.
While the statistics were remarkable, coaches and parents say the season was about much more than wins and championships. The Little Eagles represented the future of Hennessey softball, showing enthusiasm, sportsmanship and a genuine love for the game every time they took the field.
