This is by far the easiest bread that Summer has ever made. And it is delicious! Autumn’s idea of “making bread” is opening a pack of crescent rolls but even she’s tempted to try this recipe! You can use this for sandwich bread or for dessert with butter and honey or jelly. It’s simple, fast and it will make you feel like you’re a real big time home baker.
In a large bowl, combine:
2 cups warm water (not hot)
2 tsp active yeast
Allow to sit for a minute or two then add:
2 Tbsp honey or sugar
1 egg
¼ c heavy cream
Stir all together then add:
4 cups unbleached flour
1 tsp salt
Mix all together until the flour is mixed in and you have dough. It’s okay to really mix it here but you don’t need to go overboard.
Cover the bowl and allow the dough to sit for 30 minutes in a warmish spot.
Butter a bread pan and after the 30 minute rest, pour the dough into the bread pan.
Preheat your oven to 350*F and bake the bread for no more than an hour. Check it at 45 minutes. You want it browned and to sound hollow when you thump it. Allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes and then take it out of the pan to cool the rest of the way. If you leave it in the pan to cool all the way, it’ll get a little soggy. You don’t want soggy bread.
Enjoy this super easy and yet still delicious bread recipe! And thank you to megforit on TikTok for sharing this recipe with us.
You may have noticed that Summer, aka Your Hometown Breaddy Crocker, has been quiet recently. So we wanted to share this easy bread recipe with you to encourage you to make your bread at home! Remember that ingredients matter… choose your ingredients wisely.
Summer’s health journey has taken a little detour ~ taking her and all of us that love/care for her on a learning journey. She has discovered the need for a whole new level of mindfulness about ingredients, to choose low inflammatory foods and really listen to her body.
Things we’ve learned already worth passing along:
•Whole wheat is healthier than white processed wheat but for some, it still isn’t enough. Buying wheat berries and milling your own flour at home is the absolute best way to eat bread without increasing inflammation in your body.
•Olive oil and avocado oil are superior
•Choose anything in its purest form. Most natural. Organic. Less processed. Less preservatives. Less random ingredients. ***
*You know we talk about moderation and allowing leniency for life so, if you need something convenient, yummy, and still health-conscience adjacent ~ Krusteaze makes some super yummy gluten-free box muffin mixes (blueberry and cinnamon swirl are fan favs so far)
We are still tweaking recipes to see how we can modify all the things. If this topic interests you then be watching in the future for more tips!
Thank you for being on this journey with us.
