Last week, Judge Robert C. “Bob” Lovell turned 100, and if you were anywhere near Hennessey, you probably ran into a cake, a handshake, or at least someone telling a Bob story.
There were parties and plenty of well-deserved recognition, but the most lasting tribute showed up a little more quietly, no balloons required.
Sometime over the weekend, a new sign went up on Oakwood Drive, officially dedicating the street to Judge Lovell on his 100th birthday, March 27, 2026. No big announcement, no drumroll, just one of those “hey, look at that” moments that kind of sneaks up on you.
Of course, if you’re going to name a street after someone, it helps if they’ve already put in the time there. Bob and his family built the first house on Oakwood Dr. and was the one that got it brought into town limits.
Bob’s Family spent much of their adult lives on Oakwood Drive, so in this case, the town didn’t have to look very far for the right spot.
And let’s be honest, not many people get to celebrate turning 100 and have a street named after them in the same week. Most of us are lucky if we find our car keys.
Happy Birthday, Bob. If anyone’s earned a permanent address in town history, it’s you.
