William Joseph “Billy” Gritz was born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma April 3, 1960, to Dorothy (Brown) and William F. “Bill” Gritz. Billy passed away in Enid Saturday February 28, 2026.
Billy grew up in Hennessey and graduated from Hennessey High School in 1978. He was a carpenter and big OU and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to go fishing and ride his 3-wheeler. He also enjoyed listening to KISS music and watching John Wayne movies.
Billy is survived by two sisters Sally McCartney, Wilma Bohnstedt, and husband Rick, all of Hennessey, two nephews Jason Franklin and Ryan Bohnstedt, five nieces Stephani Lim, Susan McCartney, Marsha Morgan and husband Jim, Stacie Wood and husband Steven, Maegan McCullough and husband Dillon; two great-nieces and eleven great-nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Bill, two sisters Susan Shaw and Nancy Franklin, one brother-in-law Keith McCartney and all four grandparents.
There will be a time of gathering and remembering Billy at noon on Saturday March 7, 2026, at the Gathering Place 6067 Madison St. Hennessey.
Cremation arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
