HENNESSEY, OK — Oklahoma gubernatorial candidate Chip Keating visited Hennessey on Thursday, March 5, spending time with local firefighters to discuss funding challenges and other issues related to public safety in Oklahoma communities.
During his visit, Keating met with members of the Hennessey Fire Department to hear firsthand about the needs and concerns facing rural departments. Conversations focused on the costs of equipment, staffing needs, and the importance of reliable funding to ensure emergency responders can continue protecting their communities.
Keating brings a background in public safety to the race for governor. He previously served as an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and later as the state’s Secretary of Public Safety. Today, he works as an independent businessman.
The Keating name is also familiar to many Oklahomans. He is the son of former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keatingand former First Lady Cathy Keating.
While in town, Keating also stopped by the All About Network office where he sat down with Jack Quirk to record a webcast interview. During the conversation, Keating discussed his career in public service, his experiences in law enforcement, and several priorities he believes are important for the future of Oklahoma.
The interview will air later this week on All About Hennessey. Photos by AAH Jack Quirk.
